Allen Weltmann Allen Weltmann retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in July of 2004 after 41 years of service. He held the position of partner in charge of the Government and Professional Activities Unit for 20 years in the legacy firm of Coopers & Lybrand and for PricewaterhouseCoopers subsequent to its merger with Price Waterhouse in 1998. He also served on the firm’s international Regulatory and Professional Affairs Board. In this position he was responsible for directing all lobbying activities with the federal and state governments. In addition, he was responsible for maintaining the firm's relationships with various professional and regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA.) where he served as the Chair of its Federal Legislative Task Force Mr. Weltmann was one of the accounting profession's principal spokespersons and lobbyists in Washington. He was extensively involved in the passage of significant pieces of legislation such as the Private Securities Litigation Act of 1995, the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act of 1998 and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 Prior to this position, Mr. Weltmann was resident in the Syracuse, Philadelphia, and New York offices. He has served both as an auditor and a consultant. Mr. Weltmann is a Certified Public Accountant and joined Coopers & Lybrand after graduating from the Pennsylvania State University in 1965. Mr. Weltmann has been active in international trade issues. He served on the Department of Commerce’s Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Services for Trade Policy Matters (ISAC 13) and was the working Co-Chairman of the 2001 TransAtlantic Business Dialogue (TABD). He was a Board member of the European-American Business Council. Mr Weltmann was recently the Chairman of the Penn State Libraries Development Advisory Board and is currently serving on its campaign committee. |
